How we work

From drop-off to collection

We follow a consistent process with every repair to make sure nothing is missed and that you always know where things stand.

1

Initial assessment

We discuss the issue with you, note any relevant history, and record the device's condition before any work begins. This takes no more than 10–15 minutes.

2

Diagnostic testing

We run a structured diagnostic to identify the root cause. We don't assume — we test, and we document what we find.

3

Quote & approval

Once we understand the fault, we provide a clear, written quote. We don't begin repair work until you've approved it.

4

Repair work

Repairs are carried out methodically. Where multiple issues are found, we discuss the priority order with you rather than making assumptions.

5

Verification & testing

After repair, we verify that the issue has been resolved and run basic checks to confirm the system is in good working order.

6

Handover & follow-up

We explain what was done and why, and give you practical advice on avoiding the same issue. You're welcome to get in touch if anything arises after collection.

What customers say

Honest feedback from real customers

These are representative of the kinds of feedback we receive. We don't select only glowing reviews — we aim for honest representation.

"My laptop had stopped turning on entirely. I'd assumed the worst. The team at Qentrixa diagnosed it quickly as a failed charging port and had it sorted within a couple of days. Clear communication throughout — they told me what they found before doing anything."

Margaret T.
Gourock

"I brought in a machine that had been running very slowly for months. Turned out to be a combination of an almost-full SSD and thermal throttling from a blocked fan. The explanation I got was straightforward and the machine runs much better now."

Callum R.
Greenock

"Data recovery from a drive that had stopped responding. They were upfront from the start that there were no guarantees, which I appreciated — no false promises. They recovered about 80% of my files, including everything that mattered most."

Fiona M.
Port Glasgow

"We use Qentrixa for our small office IT support. It's not glamorous work — mostly keeping machines ticking over, troubleshooting the odd issue — but they're reliable and don't oversell. That matters when you're running a small team."

David S.
Inverkip

"Laptop screen cracked after a fall. The repair was well-priced and done properly. The new screen looks exactly as it should and there have been no issues since. Took about three days including ordering the part."

Alicia K.
Gourock

"I brought in my gaming PC after adding new RAM — it wouldn't post. The team quickly identified a compatibility issue and helped me sort it out. They were patient explaining things and didn't make me feel like I'd done something obviously wrong."

Maintenance advice

Simple habits that extend the life of your equipment

These aren't guaranteed to prevent every fault, but consistent basic care does reduce the likelihood of avoidable problems.

Full maintenance guide
Keep vents clear and the environment reasonably clean
Blocked vents are one of the most common causes of overheating-related faults. Computers placed on soft surfaces (carpet, bed linen, fabric sofas) tend to accumulate dust more quickly, and the reduced airflow can accelerate thermal wear. A hard, stable surface with adequate clearance around the air vents is a simple starting point.
Use a surge-protected power strip
Power surges — however minor — can stress components over time. A decent surge-protected strip is an inexpensive way to provide a basic level of protection. This is particularly relevant in areas where power quality varies or where older wiring is present.
Keep your operating system and drivers updated
OS and driver updates often include stability fixes and security patches. Deferring updates indefinitely can leave systems vulnerable and occasionally introduces compatibility problems when updates are finally applied after a long gap. Applying them regularly in small batches is generally more manageable than periodic large updates.
Monitor storage usage and don't fill drives to capacity
Solid state drives in particular perform noticeably worse when very full. Keeping some headroom — generally 15–20% free space — allows the drive to operate more efficiently. It also leaves room for OS operations like virtual memory and temporary file management.
Back up regularly — and verify those backups
The most important maintenance habit for data is consistent backups. External drives, cloud storage, or both — the specifics matter less than doing it regularly. One thing that's often overlooked: periodically verifying that your backup files are actually readable and complete. A backup you've never tested isn't one you can rely on.
Be aware of temperature and humidity
Electronics function best within moderate temperature ranges and at low-to-moderate humidity. Placing a computer near a heat source, in a damp environment, or in direct sunlight introduces unnecessary stress. This is especially relevant for laptops used in varied locations.
